This is #day2.
Over the summer, I am writing a short post about our day. The posts highlight some of our fun times, boring times, and imperfect times.
#day2
An early start. We got out of the house before 07:00 for no other reason than to walk.
Things were still unsettled.
. . . . . . . The
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . day
. . loomed
. . . . . . . . . . . blankly
. . . . . ahead.
We need to establish a new daily flow. Morning walks seem like a good idea.
• We walk.
• Negotiate breakfast.
• McDonalds wins.
• Mummy makes sure to say this is a “one off,” “a treat,” “a special day,” multiple times.
• Breakfast ordered.
• Mummy finally stops setting limits on good memories.
Happy child. Relaxed mum. Predictably disappointing breakfast.
A tooth falls out. A good start to the day.
Walk home.
Non-stop-talking.
About the moons of Jupiter.
It’s only 08:00.
Groceries arrive.
Play. Eat. Tidy. Play. Eat. Tidy.
A little iPad. Some snuggles. Giggles.
It was a good day. A relaxed day. A less chaotic day than the day before.
As usual, I wasn’t a perfect mummy.
My child wasn’t perfect either.
And my husband didn’t even come close! 😉
We went to bed, settled. Calm. With the weeks stretching out ahead of us, waiting to be filled with memories. Here’s to the weekend!
What kind of things do you have to stop yourself doing to enjoy the moment more?
