This is #day5.
Over the summer, I am writing a short post about our day. The posts highlight some of our fun times, boring times, and imperfect times.

#Day5

It’s 06:19. “Mummy, can I go downstairs?”
The day began, almost identically to the day before.

. . . The
. . . . . . . . . . . rain
. . . . . . partied
. . . . . . . . . . . . . loudly
. outside.

Lazy and unhurried questions fell softly.

• Go out?
• Where to?
• Stay home?
• Do what?
• What should I post on LinkedIn today?
• Will the builders come?

Go downstairs and make breakfast.
Video call my sister for a chat.
Our kids take over.

08:30. The builder cancels due to rain.

We sit, undecided about the day.
Message my brother. Do they want visitors?
No. Fair enough.

Play. TV. Popcorn. Build Den. Dismantle Den.

The rain stops.
Starbucks. Coffee for me. Milk for boy.
Bump into daddy. He joins us.

Boy tells us about popcorn and how it is made.
We relax and chat.

I post something brilliant on social media.
It disappears into the void of valid voices.

Go to buy a new, blue toothbrush for boy.
Come home with cups, a game, soap, and two LED toothbrushes.

Dinner. Snuggle. Brush teeth. Bed.

Of course, I wasn’t a perfect mummy.
Boy had his moments.
And my husband improves with age.

Beer tonight. Then sleep.
Tomorrow, the builders are coming (we hope).
Boy and I will have an adventure.

Do you enjoy “undecided” days or do you prefer to have a plan to follow?
